Connect2Law Seminar: ‘E-disclosure: new opportunities and challenges for litigators’

Location: Capital Court, 30 Windsor Street, Uxbridge UB8 1AB

Event Date: Tuesday 20 September 2011 - 4.00pm

In November 2009, Lord Justice Jackson finalised his review of civil litigation costs, including a proposed change to the Practice Direction in Part 31 of the Civil Procedure Rules to cover the area of disclosure of electronic documents. As a result, and after many revisions, a new Practice Direction 31 B (“PD 31B”) and an accompanying Electronic Documents Questionnaire came into effect on 1 October 2010.
The seminar will:

  • introduce the main principles of the technical aspects of PD 31B
  • provide guidance about the steps which can be taken to ensure compliance with the new requirements of the ESI Questionnaire
  • identify the practical effects of the Questionnaire
  • identify the opportunities which can arise for litigators in the area of e-disclosure
  • include a detailed review of the Electronic Documents Questionnaire and provide tips on using it.

This seminar carries 2 CPD points and will be presented by John Holden, Head of Forensic Technology, Smith and Williamson. John has over 13 years’ experience in the field and has given expert evidence in the Crown and High Courts on numerous occasions. John has been instructed on many e-disclosure engagements and is well versed on the technical difficulties likely to be encountered when dealing with large volumes of electronic data.
