Chesham Bois Fête

Location: Chesham Bois

Event Date: Saturday 26 May 2012 - 12.00am

Chesham Bois village fête is held every two years, and as the event in 2012 coincides with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the organisers are taking the opportunity to recreate some of the activities from the fête held to celebrate the coronation in 1952. Local schools and youth organisations will be heavily involved, and North Road will be closed to allow more space for all the entertainment planned. The day will start at 11:30 am with a fancy dress parade from the war memorial to the Common and will be followed by a children's picnic on trestle tables along North Road. Attractions will include a 1950s band, dancing displays, fun races, a children's entertainer, stalls, barbeque, tea tent, bar and lots more. The Parish Council is very thankful for the £500 financial support provided by IBB, which will help meet the expenses of the day. We hope that residents and their friends will put the date in their diaries and join us for what promises to be a special day for Chesham Bois.

Event Date: Wednesday 19 January 2011 - 4.30pm

Timings:  4.30pm registration, for 5.00pm start. Ends 6.15pm, followed by canapés and refreshments

Charities are under increasing economic pressure. Trustees, chief executives and finance directors have to raise the adequate funds, manage charities’ finances, meet stakeholder demands and at the same time must ensure that they keep on top of the changing regulatory environment. The changes in 2011 will affect the way charities are run. So, how do you make sure your charity is prepared for the challenges 2011 will bring?

This seminar will help prepare for the challenges of the new year, highlighting the themes to be aware of in 2011 and the pitfalls that may lie ahead.

Jo Coleman, partner, and Tim Rutherford, senior solicitor, will provide an update on recent legal changes and consider what 2011 has in store. In particular they will consider the Equality Act, the Bribery Act, the development of public benefit requirements, the Charitable Incorporated Organisations (will 2011 be its year?), and take a look at some of  the points that charities are still getting wrong.

Nick Brooks, head of not for profit at Kingston Smith chartered accountants, will look at the impact of the Spending Review on the sector, the changing accounting requirements, the new HMRC powers – the ‘fit and proper persons’ test, and provide a general tax update.
