Charities are under increasing economic pressure. The changes in 2011 will affect the way charities are run. So, how do you make sure your charity is prepared for the challenges 2011 will bring?

This seminar will help prepare for the challenges of the new year, highlighting the themes to be aware of in 2011 and the pitfalls that may lie ahead.

Jo Coleman, partner, and Tim Rutherford, senior solicitor, will provide an update on recent legal changes and consider what 2011 has in store. In particular they will consider the Equality Act, the Bribery Act, the development of public benefit requirements, the Charitable Incorporated Organisations (will 2011 be its year?), and take a look at some of  the points that charities are still getting wrong.

Nick Brooks, head of not for profit at Kingston Smith chartered accountants, will look at the impact of the Spending Review on the sector, the changing accounting requirements, the new HMRC powers – the ‘fit and proper persons’ test, and provide a general tax update.
