27th September 2011
Leading West London and South Bucks-based law firm IBB Solicitors has achieved outstanding rankings in this year’s Legal 500 – maintaining its position as one of the region’s leading law firms – and has been named the number one firm for Quality of Work by Lex 100. The Legal 500 is one of the foremost independent guides to the legal profession and this year IBB Solicitors has built upon its strong reputation across the practice.
The Legal 500 is a totally independent guide to the legal profession and is used by commercial and private clients, corporate counsel, CEOs, FDs and professional advisers – as well as by other referrers of work both nationally and internationally.
IBB Solicitors is this year’s ‘Top-Ranked Lex 100 Winner for Quality of Work’ for this first time. Lex surveys thousands of trainees in the major UK law firms and the results also see IBB ranked fourth for Client Contact and 10th for Job Satisfaction in the survey.
This year, three of IBB Solicitors’ teams have risen in the rankings with the Employment and Charities teams rising from tier two to tier one and the Pensions team rising to tier two. The Crime, Fraud and Licensing: White-Collar Crime team has also been recognised for the first time, achieving a tier three ranking. These achievements mean IBB Solicitors is tier one-ranked in the South East for Charities, Crime, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Family, and Personal Tax and Probate, and is ranked across 17 practice areas in total. Real Estate practice head Susan Mawson is named as a leading individual.
Led by Partner Peter Burnett, the Charities team is noted as having taken on the ‘very knowledgeable’ Jo Coleman from Farrer & Co and as being ‘modern and efficient’. The team acts for clients such as Mercy International and the Teenage Cancer Trust and advises on fundraising and the establishment of new charities.
‘Hardworking and efficient’, the Crime, Fraud and Licensing: Crime team is noted as having dealt with high profile cases while the White-Collar Crime team is led by Partner Anil Rajani who is cited ‘absolutely outstanding’ and ‘straightforward, brutally honest and completely transparent’.
IBB Solicitors’ Dispute Resolution team is praised for being ‘professional and thorough’. The team handles a range of commercial cases, notably shareholder disputes and corporate fraud matters, and has expertise in the transport, healthcare and hotel sectors. Partner Paul Kite, head of the team, is recommended.
The Employment team is noted as working with clients that include Hertz, Clancy Group and Hasbro and head of the team, Partner Justin Govier handles contentious and non-contentious employment instructions and has particular expertise in the construction sector.
Delivering ‘sensible and practical advice’ IBB Solicitors’ Family team is led by the ‘very empathetic and considerate’ Richard Phillips and now boasts a full Alterative Dispute Resolution practice. The guide notes the team has experience in handling mid to high-asset cases, often with international elements.
The pre-eminent Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate team is highly regarded in the South East for its Court of Protection work. The team is led by Partner Jacqueline Almond who ‘exceeds all expectations’ and ‘goes out of her way to assist clients’.
Other teams that have maintained their rankings include the Personal Injury team which has a ‘wealth of knowledge and experience’ in complex and serious head and spinal injury cases. The Commercial Property team demonstrates an ‘unwavering commitment to its clients’ across the residential, commercial, healthcare and strategic land development sectors. Partner Paul Brampton heads the Construction team which has a strong emphasis on the healthcare sector and recently won new client Allen Primary Healthcare.
Further highlights include the Property Litigation team which provides ‘quality legal support’ to its clients including Aviva, Xerox and Frontier Estates. Andrew Olins leads the team and is recommended alongside Jon Mowbray. Headed by David Clark, the Corporate and Commercial team is noted as having substantial corporate banking experience and niche expertise in the establishment and operation of collective investment schemes.
Steven Booth, Managing Partner at IBB Solicitors, said:
“This is great news for the firm and we are immensely proud of these achievements, especially as the rankings reflect the opinions of our peers, our clients and the next generation of lawyers, showing a consistent performance across all teams. This strength is testament to our abilities to provide expert legal advice to businesses and private individuals alike.
“I would like to congratulate my colleagues for all their hard work and continued dedication to their clients and the firm and I am particularly pleased for the Charities, Employment, Pensions and White-Collar Crimes teams, which have deservedly risen in this year’s rankings.”
