Mark Lewis has a wide range of experience in general commercial litigation with specialist knowledge in the areas of franchising, intellectual property, media and IT. He also handles non-contentious IP and IT matters including franchising and licensing agreements. He leads IBB's Information Technology practice, which was recently recognised by the Chambers Directory for being “especially good at drilling right down into the details”.
Mark has been listed as an expert in IT disputes in the Directory of Legal Experts since 2001. He is also ranked in the Chambers Directory 2011 as a leader in commercial litigation and is “renowned for his attention to detail, and clients highlight his ‘powerful intellect and applied pragmatism’”. Mark is also recommended in The Legal 500 for commercial disputes. Mark is identified as a 'Legal Expert' in Intellectual Property and Information Technology in Legal Experts 2011.
Mark has considerable experience of handling substantial commercial disputes. He is an ADR Group Accredited Mediator and aims to resolve disputes as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. He has also been involved in a wide range of arbitrations in numerous jurisdictions; and has acted for clients in all courts from the County Court to the House of Lords.

Mark has acted for clients such as Accenture, the Bar Council, the BBC, the Bear Factory, Celador, Colt, Dyno-Rod, Eurosport, JMC Airlines, Mowlem, ntl, RAJAR, Renault, Sony, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal Pictures.
Case highlights
Mark acted successfully for the BBC in the first case concerning the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 decided by the House of Lords; for the Bar Council concerning applications for judicial review relating to its disciplinary process and examination system and for RAJAR in the strike out of The Wireless Group's claim for damages for breach of the Competition Act 1998.
