£20 Million Merger Between Iliffes Booth Bennett (IBB) Solicitors and Turbervilles Solicitors

£20million merger between Iliffes Booth Bennett (IBB) Solicitors and Turbervilles Solicitors cements position as legal powerhouse in the West London, the Western Home Counties and the Thames Valley regions.

Merger marks first stage of IBB’s ambitions to invest and diversify client service offering and grow to £30 million turnover by 2023

Law firm, Iliffes Booth Bennett Solicitors (IBB Solicitors), with 17 specialist practice teams and clients including Aviva and Xerox(UK), has merged with Turbervilles Solicitors, which has particularly strong legal expertise in private client services, Family and Childcare, Commercial and Park Homes. Turbervilles’ client-base includes National Caravan Council, Symrise Limited, WMF UK Ltd and Parexel International.

As a result of the merger on 1st January 2018, the firm will boost its breadth of services for its strong client base across West London, the Western Home Counties and the Thames Valley regions.

The firm will have 225 people in 20 teams based in Uxbridge, Chesham and Chorleywood, with a combined turnover of £20m. The merger marks the first stage of IBB’s strategy to build a distinctive, resilient firm with enough critical mass to serve a range of commercial and private clients across the region. Following the merger, the firm climbs 20 positions to #113 in the UK law firm rankings (based on turnover).

The latest merger news reflects the changing legal landscape in the UK where businesses and individual clients, many of whom would have traditionally appointed a City or national firm for all their legal work, are turning their sights to firms who can design their services around what the client wants and deliver solutions that are expert, commercial and competitive.

Under the agreement, which was completed on 1 December 2017, all Turbervilles’ employees and the firm’s five partners will move to IBB’s offices at Capital Court, Uxbridge. The merged firm will be led by Joanna DeBiase with Turbervilles’ former managing partner, Russell Hallam, joining the IBB leadership team from January 2018. Russell will be in charge of overseeing the integration of the two firms over the coming months and will become Private Client Group Head designate from May 2018.

Joanna DeBiase, Managing Partner of IBB Solicitors:

“Since developing our long- term vision in 2016, we have been looking at ways to make our firm more resilient. Mergers are one of the ways to achieve growth as long as both firms share the same culture and values. At the core, both of our firm’s philosophies have always been about listening to our clients to get a really good understanding of how we can help them.

“This merger has cemented our position as the go-to law firm in the West London, Thames Valley corridor and the Western Home Counties regions – not only for the quality of advice, but the breath of specialist practices and extremely competitive pricing compared to much larger firms based in the Capital and across the country.”

Russell Hallam, formerly managing partner of Turbervilles:

“I am delighted to be joining forces with IBB to create a really strong and balanced firm. We see many opportunities to use our combined resources to innovate and provide a really comprehensive quality service.

“Like IBB, we were keen to find a partner to boost our service offering to our clients who are mostly based in West London and the surrounding regions. I am in no doubt that our clients will benefit from the combined and distinctive service offering now that two firms have become one.”
