Hillingdon Council Backs Anti-HS2 Campaign

Hillingdon Council has pledged its continued support for campaigns against the Government’s planned high-speed railway project HS2 with the west London authority voting unanimously to back opposition to the line.

All councillors supported a motion by the Tory member for West Ruislip, which stated that the council “reaffirms the commitment to continue to put local people first by providing ongoing financial and practical support to the Hillingdon Against HS2 Group and the 51M Group of councils”.

Vote Follows Re-launch of HS2 Consultation

The Hillingdon vote follows news that the Government relaunched a consultation on how it would compensate property owners living on or close to the proposed HS2 route. IBB’s team of property specialist can advise on all aspects of residential conveyancing relating to the HS2 project.

Council leader Ray Puddifoot said: “MPs need to face up to the reality of life. By the Government’s own findings, this will cost every family in this country around £3,000.

“Our residents are doing a sterling job and they can go away assured that we can beat this.”

Tory councillor Richard Barnes said: “This will devastate Harefield. The building of HS2 will start in Harefield. That is what they plan.

“Getting to and from the village will become near impossible.”
