Spotlight on: Simon Blunden, Consultant

I have been asked to do a critique of myself, Sid, AKA Simon Blunden.

Where to start or more importantly, where have I finished!!!  Husband, father, grandfather, friend, a weakness for the odd glass, cars, golf, sport and normally everything I can’t have or afford.  The answer really is no idea, but I have and am thoroughly enjoying the ride with my family, friends and work colleagues, a lot of whom are the same.

Most of my career has been spent in banking and built on 20 years with NatWest.  It all changed when RBS somehow acquired the sleeping giant and I then left for pastures new, opening the 5th office of Handelsbanken in the UK.  Five very good years were spent with SHB, and AIB then beckoned where I headed up the corporate office in Reading.  Great times until the 2008 financial crisis after which my bank shares wouldn’t buy me a loaf of bread!!

Being a cautious banker, I then left and spent 5 years with an AIM listed business as a Commercial Director, identifying applications for our compressor technology in the oil and gas industry.  Yes, I know.  I used to describe them as expensive oversized gas barbecues.  It worked!!  Since then, I have spent most of my time consulting in the financial services sector as well as a work change business, property company and including an insolvency practice, national accountancy practice and now law firm.

I am thoroughly enjoying working with the IBB family and have very much fallen on my feet.
That is how I have ended up here.  A great family, lots of friends and surrounded by all the things I like and love.  At weekends you will normally find me with my wife walking our very large ridgeback rescue dog, playing golf, polishing my MG, supporting West Ham and England rugby, normally with a beer or vino in hand.

Not bad really.
