The Commission has consulted on new draft guidance on managing conflicts of interest among trustees

The Commission has consulted on draft new guidance on managing conflicts of interests among trustees. The purpose of the new guidance is not to make changes to the legal duties of trustees, but to clarify the existing guidance and make it easier to follow. The draft new guidance sets out practical steps to help trustees identify, manage and record conflicts of interest and explains that trustees must make decisions that are focused only on the best interests of the charity. To download a copy of the new draft guidance please click here. Conflicts of interest remains one of the issues most likely to ‘trip up’ trustees and trustees may want to use the new guidance to refresh their own conflicts policies.
