Law Society Names Vicky Preece Solicitor Advocate of the Year

Vicky Preece –a senior family lawyer and a specialist in the Childcare Team at IBB solicitors– has been awarded the prestigious Solicitor Advocate of the Year in the 11th Law Society Excellence Awards 2017 .

The annual awards recognise the commitment, enthusiasm and passion that solicitors dedicate to serving their clients. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday 19 October 2017 at the Hilton Park Lane, hosted by BBC Radio 4 Today programme presenter Mishal Husain.

Vicky Preece, who has been practicing as a family lawyer for 15 years, has specialised in Childcare Law since she became a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel in 2007.

Respected by the Judiciary for the quality of her advocacy in all levels of the Family Court and Court of Appeal, Vicky has worked on numerous cases representing vulnerable clients and children. Over the past year, Vicky has worked primarily on cases where Local Authorities have issued proceedings due to concerns arising from the care children are receiving. Most frequently she will represent the children who themselves are the subject of the application, but she often represents parents and other family members also involved. Vicky works in a collaborative approach to resolve matters and to work towards creating solutions for each family, and has recently published an article in the Law Society Advocacy Section explaining this approach .

Vicky and the Childcare Team at IBB solicitors have particular expertise handling cases around public and private law childcare, domestic abuse, care and adoption as well as disagreements which arise over residence or contact issues.

Joanna DeBiase, Managing Partner, IBB Solicitors commenting on the news:

“On behalf of everyone at IBB solicitors, I want to congratulate Vicky. There was intense competition for this award – many highly experienced lawyers from across the UK and from some of the largest firms entered this category. This is a terrific achievement in the legal profession and thoroughly deserved.

“Family law cases, involving vulnerable children can be both emotionally charged and complex. It’s a combination of Vicky’s specialist understanding of the law, as well as handling each case with the necessary care and compassion, that makes her the rightful winner for this award.”
