Zahra Javed

Zahra is a paralegal in the Education team. The Education team focuses on helping individuals on all aspects of education law related issues, in schools, colleges and universities.

Zahra specialises in special educational needs, working with clients in producing an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). She has significant experience in taking initial instructions from clients, conducting legal research and reflecting on the special educational needs and disability (SEND) code of practise. She is well versed in collating evidence and preparing cases for the first tier tribunal. In her work as a SEND expert, Zahra benefits from earlier experience of working in social care, where she focused on child care and adult social care.

Zahra’s SEN case experience involves working on all aspects of an Education, Health and Care Plan, particularly in respect of a child or young person’s special educational needs, what special educational provision is needed for a child and the type of educational placement, to meet their needs.  Zahra ensures the EHCP is an accurate representation of the child’s needs by working collaboratively with the parents and local authority. She also ensures all the necessary professional medical reports, such as those from an educational psychologist and speech & language therapist, are taken into account.  Her knowledge of special educational needs is supplement by her organisational skills, ensuring witness statements, court bundles and communications meet their objective. As a specialist SEN lawyer, she is familiar with the SEND tribunal procedure.

Zahra graduated in Law from Brunel University. She then studied her Legal Practice Course with Masters at the University of Law and graduated with a Distinction.
