From 1 July 2015 anyone in the UK selling medicines on online pharmacies needs to be on the MHRA’s list of registered online retailers. Online sellers will also have to display the new European common logo on every page of their website. The European common logo will also contain a hyperlink to the seller’s entry on the MHRA’s list of registered online retailers. The new logo is intended to provide assurance to the public that the online seller is a legitimate seller of medicines. A failure to register and display the common logo is punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
