IBB’s Commercial and Corporate team recently advised existing client Marsh Wall Limited on the acquisition of the business and assets of Inchcape’s Cobham BMW/MINI branch, the latest in a series of acquisitions by the rapidly expanding “Berry Group”.

The Berry Group is an established and authorised reseller of BMWs and MINIs, and is continuing its strategy of remodelling, upgrading and improving the infrastructure of its acquisitions. This latest purchase brings the number of their BMW/MINI branches up to 5 branches with the others situated in Chiswick, Croydon, Heathrow and Thames Ditton.

The IBB team advising the Berry Group was led by Adam Dowdney (Corporate & Commercial Partner) and Jeff Elphee (Real Estate Partner) and included Richard Devall (Employment Partner) and Charlotte Newlyn (Corporate Solicitor).

Inchcape were advised by TLT.

Commenting on the deal, Adam Dowdney, said:

We were delighted to act for the Berry Group again in what is proving to be a series of key strategic acquisitions. As with the previous acquisitions, the parties’ priority was to ensure a smooth transition for the benefit of BMW/Mini’s  customers, which we were able to achieve through our close working relationship with Berry across all relevant service lines. We wish Wayne, Deborah and the team at Berry every success as they continue to grow the Berry brand and look forward to working with them in future.

Wayne Berry, managing director of the Berry Group, commented:

It was great to continue the Berry Group’s growth, and this was yet another step to fulfil this strategy. IBB’s legal team always work seamlessly across the various departments to provide collaborative, comprehensive advice and we greatly value their input into the acquisition process. We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming our new employees to the Berry team and look forward to continuing to provide an outstanding service to all of our BMW/MINI customers.
